IOWA CITY – SCOPE is pleased to announce that Vince Staples will be performing in the Iowa Memorial Union Ballroom, on Saturday, December 12, 2015. From Long Beach, CA, Vince Staples has arrived at hip-hops front door, and will not be leaving anytime soon. Appearing on Earl Sweatshirt’s 2013 album, Hives, Staples raised ears and hooked listeners onto what he had to say. Working close with Odd Future, Staples was soon introduced to Mac Miller, who later would produce Staple’s mixtape, Stolen Youth. Seeing a rush of success, Staples went on to release his first EP, Hell Can Wait, in 2014.

The esteemed reviews of his debut EP lead Staples to release his first album, Summertime ‘06, in June, 2015. The album immediately gained listeners, scoring Staples a spot on XXL Magazine’s Freshman Class of 2015. Being compared to Chance the Rapper, Pitchfork called Staples album a “septic, rusted, retooled-buggy persistence.” Rolling Stone continued the praise by writing that Staples was the “summer’s most exciting rapper,” with, “one of the most critically acclaimed LPs of 2015.” Currently booking shows with Tyler, the Creator, Danny Brown, and A$AP Rocky, Vince Staples is increasingly becoming a must-see hip-hop act that no sane person will want to miss.
