SCOPE Productions and Hancher have the pleasure of announcing that The Roots will be performing live in the IMU Main Lounge on Wednesday, March 9th.

Don’t do a double take.  It’s true; The Roots are coming to Iowa City.  Since their last performance in Iowa at the Des Moines 80/35 festival in 2008, The Roots have continued to refine their musical aptitude along with their fashion sense.  Now the members of The Roots suit up every night as the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

The Roots have not relaxed, even with a day job which most people would consider “normal.”  The band continues to write music while working on Fallon and in 2010 released two albums, How I Got Over and a collaborative record with R&B singer John Legend titled Wake Up!

This show is monumental.  The band is only taking one week off to play a handful of dates and the prospect of future shows is entirely unknown.  Whether you are a long-standing fan or you just found out about The Roots on Late Night, now is the time to see these hip hop legends.

Tickets go on sale February 9th at the IMU Box Office, where students can UBILL up to 8 tickets, the Hancher box office located in the Old Capital Mall, and all Ticketmaster locations.  There are a LIMITED NUMBER OF STUDENT PRICED TICKETS brought to you by the Office of Student Life.
