SCOPE Productions has the pleasure of announcing The New Pornographers and The Walkmen will perform at the IMU Ballroom on Wednesday April 27th. The New Pornographers will be performing with their full lineup, including Neko Case.
Those who are unfamiliar with The New Pornographer’s perfect blend of pop sensibility and colossal wall-of-sound orchestration only need pick up any album from their back catalog and let their poignant songs fill their ears. Their latest release, Together, got rave reviews from music critics and fans alike.
Don’t think for a second that this band is made solely for headphones; the band brings a whole new life to their songs when they walk on stage. With their energy, vocal virtuosity, and overall fun factor The New Pornographers are bound to have Iowa City talking about this show for months to come.
The New Pornographers aren’t the only treat that concertgoers will receive on April 27th; The Walkmen are co-headlining the evening with their combination of surf rock musicality and straight rock and roll attitude. Listeners can look forward to a cavalcade of heartfelt anthems from their latest release Lisbon.
The Walkmen have had great success with their most recent record Lisbon. The album received a best new music stamp of approval from Pitchfork.com.
