SCOPE Productions is proud to announce that The Avett Brothers will perform in the IMU Main Lounge on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Doors will open at 7pm, and the show will begin at 8pm.

The Avett Brothers provide an exciting brand of folk rock that simultaneously tugs on the heartstrings and incites dancing. Brothers Scott and Seth Avett have played music together since childhood, and this deep intimacy and fraternity is reflected in beautifully honest lyrics and rousing melodies.

Over the years, the Avett Brothers have built up a sizable following based on their rowdy, infectious stage shows. The release of their 2009 album, “I and Love and You,” marks the point at which their music gained wide recognition, making them a household name.  In concert, the high-flying ensemble tears through tunes with unbridled energy, popping banjo and guitar strings right and left while encouraging stomping sing-a-longs among doting audiences.

The Avett Brothers are no stranger to Iowa City as they played a sold-out show at the Englert Theatre in 2009. They appeared on the 53rd Grammy Awards in 2011, playing "Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise" before joining Mumford and Sons and Bob Dylan in a performance of "Maggie's Farm." The Avett Brothers are a grassroots phenomenon, which continues to capture the hearts of fans everywhere, making this show a must-see.

Tickets to this show are now completely sold out.
