SCOPE Productions is excited to announce that TAKING BACK SUNDAY will perform on Thursday, October 29th at 8:00 PM in the IMU Main Lounge. The show will feature special guests Anberlin, fun. , and Gavin Castleton.
Taking Back Sunday will delight Iowa City with heavy vocals, rock hooks, and emotionally provocative lyrics. The enormously successful rock outfit from Long Island, NY has made an impressive mark on today’s alternative-rock music scene. Their albums Louder Now and Where You Want To Be peaked at #2 and #3 respectively on the U.S. Billboard charts, with Louder Now selling over 600,000 copies. The band’s most recent album, New Again, truly embodies its’ title. After a three-year break from recording, and the addition of new guitarist Matthew Fazzi, front man Adam Lazzara feels as though Taking Back Sunday is a new band. “Sink Into Me”, the first single off of New Again, displays an incredibly focused and refined sound. Special guest Anberlin is no stranger to touring alongside Taking Back Sunday. The bands have toured together extensively in the past, and are paired for multiple dates this fall. Their latest album, New Surrender, includes the hits “Feel Good Drag” and “Breaking”. Their newest single, “True Faith”, was released September 1st, 2009, and is consistent with past singles, in that it features strong, fiery vocals and an excellent control of dynamic rock instrumentation.
Fun.,a new power-pop super group, is comprised of Nate Ruess, formerly of The Format, Andrew Dost of Anthallo, and Jack Antonoff of Steel Train. Their first album, Aim and Ignite was released August 25th, 2009 and has received positive feedback from fans and critics alike. Singer/Songwriter Gavin Castleton rounds out the show’s support, complementing the other bands with versatile and powerful vocals that sustain his skillfully crafted songs.
Tickets for the concert go on sale at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 18th and can be purchased at University of Iowa Box Office, located in the IMU, and all other Ticketmaster locations.
