Hip-Hop artist Mike Stud came to fame in Rhode Island for his incredible talent as a baseball player in 2006. His baseball career was unfortunately hindered in his second year of college after going through Tommy John surgery, which is when he started making music as a hobby. He continued onto graduate school at Georgetown, where he continued to pursue music. In December of 2010, Stud made a music video for his song “College Humor” from his first album A Toast to Tommy. The music video quickly spread across the university scene and aided in his mixtape getting onto the top five iTunes hip-hop charts. He has since made two other albums, with the latest released this July. Many students at the University of Iowa have been hoping for a hip-hop show this year and Mike Stud is sure to please the masses. This show will definitely be a hit in the college town of Iowa City and will be an excellent addition to SCOPE’s fall lineup.
