Mason Jennings is not your typical singer-songwriter; he goes above and beyond the call of duty.  Jennings artistically opens his soul to music and shows his listeners a new outlook on life.

Mason Jennings’ is changing people’s minds one by one with every song he makes.  Jennings is very conscious of his carbon footprint and puts forth a lot of effort to make it as small as possible.  Jennings still uses a van as his main source of transportation, even though he has enough money to afford a bus; he sees the waste riding around in a moving house produces.  In early 2008 Jennings signed with Jack Johnson’s record label Brushfire Records, a label that attempts to keep the earth as pollutant free as possible. Brushfire Record’s studio runs completely on solar power, was made from post consumer waste, and has a Duro-Last Green Roof that helps it reduce its environmental impact. On his DVD, “Use Your Voice,” he speaks openly about benefits of “going green.”

Jennings accomplishes all of this while continually releasing inspirational music.  He stripped away the clatter of electric guitars and drums on his latest release, The Flood, and poured his heart into a microphone with nothing but a simple acoustic guitar.  Mason Jennings is sure to make Iowa City hear his message with a guitar in hand and his heart on his sleeve.
