SCOPE Productions is proud to announce that Manchester Orchestra will be performing at the Iowa Memorial Union Ballroom on Friday, November 9.

The Atlanta-bred Manchester Orchestra have distinguished themselves as pioneering princes of lush, melodicalternative rock, and were barely out of high school when they began to collaborate on the sometimes delicate, sometimes angry, always heartfelt and compositionally rich tunes that have mesmerized keen indie listeners everywhere. Frontman Andy Hull’s raw, yearning lyrics paired with a band who feature an unmatched group chemistry in live performance make Manchester Orchestra a collective of modern-day bards, rendering the stories of their restless, suburbs-escaping generation. Their songs break the standard rules of alternative rock yet comprise “a masterpiece of intricacy and honesty” in five-star reviewed albums like 2009’s Mean Everything to Nothing. The band’s newest release, Simple Math, is a concept album about youth and young manhood that further builds upon their emotionally charged sound. Music fans won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to see Manchester Orchestra play live in the beautiful Second Floor Ballroom.
