Singer/songwriter, Sam Beam has worked behind the name Iron & Wine since early in 2000. At the start of
his career Beam wrote and recorded directly from his household living room, while his five daughters slept.
After the initial release of these bare-bone recordings, Beam was provided the platform to further develop his
sound through Sub Pop Records in 2002. Since his first produced release he has been greeted with countless
support, such as his appearances on soundtracks for Grey's Anatomy, The L Word and Twilight. “I put on
Iron & Wine’s ‘Flightless Bird, American Mouth’ and I just became instantly emotional,” said
Kristin Stewart, star of the Twilight Saga.
Beam has recently been working on a series of archives, having released his first edition earlier this year.
Volume II will be released on October 6, 2015. Already reviewed by NPR as being, “full of
wanderlust and alienation in equal measure,” volume II will continue
Iron & Wines’ reputation of unique, masterfully crafted music.
