Hawks Nest and SCOPE Productions proudly present Grammy award winning superstar T-Pain at the fourth annual Hawkapalooza in Hubbard Park on Thursday, September 6th. This annual FREE event celebrates Hawkeye athletics with a pep rally, food from local vendors, and a concert. Hawkapalooza 2012 will begin at 7 pm and is open to all students and the general public.

Defining his own personal genre as “Hard & B,” the Florida-born T-Pain was recording in his bedroom music studio by age ten, foreshadowing his rise to household-name status in the field of beat-heavy, infectiously danceable R&B. He exploded onto the scene with 2005’s iconic “I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper)” featuring Mike Jones, launching his label Nappy Boy Entertainment in the same year, and only continued his reign of radio-ready fun with hits like “Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin’)” in 2007 and “Take Your Shirt Off” in 2009. Besides his individual work, T-Pain has made numerous guest appearances on tracks by Li’l Wayne, Ludacris, Kanye West, T.I., R. Kelly, and many others. His newest album, rEVOLVEr, was released in December and features the Top 10 single “5 O’Clock” with Lily Allen and Wiz Khalifa and “Best Love Song” featuring Chris Brown. SCOPE Productions is thrilled to kick off an awesome school year by bringing this talent to the University of Iowa.

Also, for the 2012 edition of Hawkapalooza, Hawks Nest will introduce an Ultimate Tailgate to enhance the traditional sports fair experience. From 11am-2pm in Hubbard Park, students will have the opportunity to play classic tailgate games, enjoy free food from local vendors, and receive prizes like Hawkeye apparel. The daylong range of activities will model fun, responsible tailgating behavior while providing students with the chance to congregate together, channeling their spirit for fall athletics and building momentum for the evening's festivities.
