The Deep Cuts
I wanted to make a playlist of some songs that make me feel so like <3333. We have some of my old favorites, some new favorites, some that are super lit, and just kind of whatever else I could find in my Spotify archives. I made sure to include a little bit of everything for your listening pleasure. Here are some of my fav’s: Welcome To My Island by Caroline Polachek (the remix w/ Charli is also fire) and Losing You by Solange feel very Thursday morning coffee walk, sort of just like cool noises I like to hear. Songs like Magic Man by Heart and No. 1 Party Anthem by Arctic Monkeys are more like my go to’s when I'm walking around or getting ready, these feel like a Saturday night. There's also Best to You by Blood Orange and Get Free by Lana Del Rey that feel like a chilly winter morning walk to class. I love sharing playlists, I think it's so fun and you can learn so much about a person from what music they listen to. This playlist is very all over the place but it's a labor of love and I hope you all enjoy <3!
Three Favorite Albums
Norman fucking Rockwell by Lana Del Rey - I feel a deep soul connection to each and every song, and I think this album deserves every ounce of credit it gets.
Melodrama by Lorde - Because what do you mean she was 19 when she wrote this? That simply cannot be true. When the big bang happened something in the universe shifted in order for this record to be created, it has always existed and it will always exist, Lorde has just given us the gift of being able to hear it.
Tina Snow by Megan Thee Stallion - I believe Megan has always been ahead of her time, but even so, for a rap album written in 2018, this record has stood the test of time and aged insanely beautifully. Megan is and always has been that girl.
Favorite Concert Experience
This is so hard because I have loved seeing so many artists, but I think my favorite may have been MUNA at Hinterland in 2022. This was my first time really hearing them, and it changed my life. I had never seen a festival set this intense and electric, this set was so influential that my friends and I still frequently reference it on a regular basis. I saw MUNA again when they opened for Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour in 2023, and they still had the same it factor. I truly think MUNA makes and performs music for queer people that is life changing. Other than MUNA, I really liked seeing Phoebe Bridgers, Wallows, Del Water Gap, and Lucy Dacus. I'm seeing Role Model this spring break, and I’m really looking forward to it, I can't wait to see People’s Sexiest Musician 2024 perform live.
Hobbies / Interests / Fun Facts / Campus Involvement
Unfortunately, SCOPE is my only campus involvement in terms of student organizations or clubs. Outside of SCOPE, I like to hang out with friends, go for walks, go shopping, scroll through pinterest, listen to podcasts or music, and hangout with my beautiful sweet cat Pietro. A fun fact about me is that I have listened to every single episode (at least once, usually twice) of Emergency Intercom, Brooke and Connor Make a Podcast, The Broski Report with Brittany Broski, and The Bald and the Beautiful with Trixie and Katya. This is like hundreds of hours of podcasts. So outside of my awesome music taste, I also have awesome and cool taste in podcasts. I really really love shopping and thrifting, and I have a pinterest board for literally every single occasion you could imagine. Basically I am super involved and cool and stuff and you guys should listen to my playlist!!
