Howdy! I’m Cat Dooley and I am a first-year member of SCOPE. So far, I have loved getting to
know all my new best friends and enjoying our amazing shows. I am excited to continue
learning about the music industry and having a blast while doing it!

Favorite Concert Experience:

Saint Motel in Des Moines at the arts festival! It was a free concert outside and felt so personal. It was the first concert I went to that made me feel connected to the artists and comfortable enough to dance around. I remember they shouted out the University of Iowa and it made me smile so big! They were amazing performers and their saxophonists truly brought out the band kid in me again.

Hobbies/Interests/Fun Facts/Campus Involvement:

Along with the work I do for SCOPE, I am a local portrait photographer shooting mainly seniors and weddings! I also work with videography and even have a fancy website with all my work (so you know I’m official)! I have worked as a media marketing intern for 4 years now with a company back home in Des Moines, and I work two jobs here in Iowa City! Currently I am a monitor at the Visual Arts Building equipment checkout and an employee at Plato’s Closet in Coralville. I keep busy around campus seeing movies at Filmscene and enjoying all the live music Iowa City has to offer.

The Deep Cuts:

Let’s get into the chaotic mess that is my music taste! I simply like songs that make me happy. For playlists, I am totally here for a good shuffle moment. I think every song has its own story to tell here but specifically I resonate most with Born Again by Saint Motel. Not surprising because I have seen them live and of course this song is off my favorite album of theirs! It is the perfect coming of age movie song, and I am always searching for those main character moments. I remember playing this song the first time I got to drive myself to school when I was 16 and feeling so grown and full of hope for life. Now, every time I listen to this absolute banger, I scream my heart out and feel 16 and hopeful all over again. I hope y’all enjoy my lively taste in music!
