As another SCOPE Selects rolls around, we'd like to introduce our "FUN-nance" (Finance) Director, Hope McGlaughlin. Nothing is dull when it comes to SCOPE's finances or our Finance Director. Like her title suggests, Hope's playlist is also a lot of fun to listen to, so check it out this week with SCOPE Selects!

Field(s) of Study: Business Management, Event Planning, Spanish
SCOPE Position: Finance Director
Hi everyone! I’m Hope, and I’m currently in the role of Finance Director of SCOPE for the second year in a row. You may be thinking that finance is the most boring role I could have chosen, but I promise it’s not! I get to communicate with all the other directors and use my Type A personality and Virgo zodiac sign traits to keep things organized and running smoothly within the organization. I’m excited for this year to finally be in person so we can produce more exciting shows for the community!
Three Favorite Albums: IGOR // Tyler the Creator, Rumors // Fleetwood Mac, and The Blue Album // Weezer
Favorite Concert Experience: My favorite concert experience was seeing Weezer at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. They had just released their Black Album but unfortunately didn’t play any of the songs off that album, nevertheless, they played a great show. I have listened to Weezer since I can remember, and I specifically remember listening to Beverly Hills and having my brother introduce me to Say It Ain’t So through the game Rock Band. I really loved that they did a cover of Take On Me; it was acoustic and had the audience captured. Overall, it was a great concert and brought to life the music I’d been listening to since I was 10 years old.
Hobbies/Interests/Fun Facts/Campus Involvement: Besides SCOPE, I have a part-time job at Hy-Vee and enjoy exploring Iowa City and all it has to offer with my friends. I also got into fitness and joined OrangeTheory Fitness over the summer, which has been fun. Before the pandemic struck, I traveled a lot and even had the chance to study abroad in Spain over the summer, and I hope to get back to traveling soon.
The Deep Cuts:
My music taste has always been a bit "all over the place," and I feel like this playlist embodies that. I listened to a lot of country music growing up, and Miranda Lambert’s “Highway Vagabond” is one I still enjoy. When I came to college, I was introduced to different types of music like EDM. I always thought I could appreciate every type of music except maybe heavy metal. I also love finding new artists like Khruangbin with different and unique sounds. A lot of these songs really take me back to different periods of my life and bring back a lot of memories, so I hope there’s something you like on there.
Enjoy!!!
