This year we are collaborating with Black Student Union to bring you Noname! 

Every year at the end of Black History Month, the Black Student Union hosts a talent show to showcase and celebrate the self-identified talents of students on this campus. Recognizing and bringing the University of Iowa together to acknowledge black culture. It is a social event that promotes diversity. This event also seeks to increase campus-wide inclusion.

Born and raised on Chicago’s south side, Lenae is part of “Zero Fatigue,” a local music collective that boasts artists like Smino and Jean Deaux, as well as producer, Monte Booker. Lenae is a student of music and at only 18 years old has proved herself as one of the best up and coming artists out of Chicago.

Noname, a Chicago rapper and poet (formerly Noname Gypsy) is apart of budding culture coming out of Chicago. Influenced by Lauryn Hill, Andre 3000 and Buddy Guy, Noname's music is filled with plenty of soul. As a frequent collaborator with Chance the Rapper, Noname has showcased how dynamic her rapping truly is. Whether she is rapping on her debut album Telefone or featured on another Chicago artist's music, her voice is a marvel that will resonant through all listeners. Her use of interesting and clever wordplay has every listener wanting more.
