The Deep Cuts

I started with some of my favorite rock songs, mainly with Jimi Hendrix and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I picked out some favorites from classic bands like Heart, Rush, and and Led Zeppelin. Then, I moved to my favorite pop songs (mainly 2010s era), like Ariana Grande and Rihanna. Finally, I chose a few of my favorite folk and bluegrass songs to round it out, including my favorite song off of Hymns For The Exiled by Anaïs Mitchell, Cosmic American.

Favorite Concert Experience

During my freshman year, I was in Los Angeles for the Association of Writers and Writing Programs annual conference, when I saw that one of my favorite artists, PVRIS (Lynn Gunn) was performing that night a few blocks from the convention center. PVRIS at that point was only really touring on the west coast, so I didn’t ever dream of seeing them live. I bought tickets the day of, and since it was the ten year anniversary of the White Noise album, they performed so many of my favorite songs. It was completely unexpected and an amazing experience.  

Hobbies / Interests / Fun Facts / Campus Involvement

On campus, I’m a Resident Assistant in Mayflower, and I work on the Marketing team for Performing Arts at Iowa! I’m also a photojournalist for The Daily Iowan, and being on the visuals team has helped me grow a lot. I’ve been a photographer for close to six years now, and it’s a very fulfilling hobby because it allows me to connect with new people all the time.
