Spending the evening in the Stanley Art Museum, jazz fans filled the room to experience an intimate night of live music. On February 5th, nearly 200 people gathered for the first show of the semester. Drawn in by the museum setting and the promise of jazz, SCOPE presented two University of Iowa student-led performances. The audience settled into their seats as the space transformed into a concert venue.

Two  student ensembles shared the stage for the evening. The Ben Banta Trio opened with a 30-minute set, followed by an equally engaging performance from the Mathuin Smith Trio. Both saxophone groups were accompanied by the same drummer, Milo Savage, whose presence tied the two acts together. To close out the night, the musicians from both trios joined together for a final collaborative song, bringing the evening to a memorable finish.
