The Deep Cuts
If there’s one thing, I’m truly not good at making, it’s a playlist that conveys a singular feeling or vibe. I like to throw everything together. My spotistats every month reports over 70% in acoustic, influencing this very playlist too. This playlist I've created holds new songs I've been jamming to the last couple weeks, a couple “holy grail” songs I will forever return to and lastly, staples from my favorite albums of all time. I hope this could introduce you to a new song or artist :)
Three Favorite Albums
Playing piano for dad by Hhunt (fun fact: I have listened to over 9,000 minutes of this album alone, putting me at spot no.3 on Spotify for top listeners)
A Carnival of fears by Yellow house
The Violet Hour by The Clientele
Favorite Concert Experience
I was lucky to see Mr. Patrick Watson at Thalia Hall in Chicago a few years back. I knew of a couple songs he’d written and was excited to hear him play them when I went to see him live. What makes this concert my favorite compared to seeing one of my all-time favorite bands live (Cigarettes After Sex) is when I left his concert, I ended up discovering an incredible amount of music from him that I would never have found without this concert. Because of my lack of expectation going into this show, it gave me a clear lens to capture his art. His ability to charm and captivate an audience was amazing to experience at one of my favorite venues. To this day, this concert and Watsons art has influenced how I approach writing my own songs and my playing style on the piano.
Hobbies / Interests / Fun Facts / Campus Involvement
During my free time you can always find me sitting down at my piano or making a damn good cup of coffee at Day Drink where I am a barista. A fun fact about me is my Spotify wrapped has never been below 120,000 minutes of music listened to in a year. I was shown my favorite album of all time roughly one year ago. Since then, I’ve listened to over 10,000 minutes of "Playing Piano for Dad” by Hhunt, putting me at the no.3 spot on Spotify for top listeners. I have an immense love for being outside and will always make time for a good long bike ride. I've played tennis for 13 years with a year of competitive college tennis at another university before coming to The University of Iowa.
