Hancher Auditorium and SCOPE Productions kicked off the school year with a concert on the Hancher green with help from the band, Goose.
Many gathered outside on Thursday, Aug. 28 to dance to the jam band tunes. The Hawkeye drumline started the night with an ensemble performance before the band from Connecticut took the stage. Goose delivered a genre-blending and improvising rock tunes that were pulled from their new album Chain Yer Dragon.
Their two-hour set brought together the community of Iowa City, extending the welcome outside of University of Iowa students. The audience erupted in cheers during music pauses. While some thought the band was receiving a chorus of boos, it was enthusiastic fans chanting “goose”. The night was enjoyed with bubble blasts, fun lights, and beach balls tossing around. This festival atmosphere concert was something not to miss.
