SCOPE productions presented its annual performance of Battle of the Bands on Sunday August 24th at the IMU Amphitheater, drawing in a large and diverse crowd of students interested in the talent.

Willie Mathy’s & The Flatland Boys kicked off the night with an unforgettable set. They explored with a cajon drum and throwing in a viola, making their performance stand out from the other bands

Following them, Daniel Xavier & Co. took the stage. They brought a chill and relaxing R&B sound to the night. This band had a fun and creative spirit that connected to the audience.

The third act of the night was Two Boyfriends, former SCOPE members. Their set was a mix of original music and cover songs. This four-person band joked with the audience, while incorporating sounds.

To wrap of the night, the two-person band from Des Moines, Kenseet, performed a jaw dropping performance. Their alt rock tunes got the audience up and dancing to end the end.

It was a close call in votes this year, with Two Boyfriends winning the most votes of the night. Alongside winning a $500 cash prize, the band also won a Halloween performance at Gabe’s. We hope to see you all there.
