Jennie Nuguid is SCOPE's Marketing Director, and she is a hella good one. She somehow tackles marketing, sorority life, AND a nursing major, and makes it all look effortless. Her music taste is just as effortless.

Hey hey! I’m Jennie Nuguid, and I am this year’s Marketing Director for SCOPE. This is my second year in this org, and I am so thankful to be surrounded by individuals who love music and live shows as much as I do! Creating this playlist was a tough one, but I’m excited to show you all what my music is about.

Jennie's playlist isn't one to miss!

Top 3 Albums:

  • Hundred Acres by S. Carey
  • Fuzzybrain by Dayglow
  • Mind Over Matter by Young the Giant

Favorite Concert Experience:

Dayglow in Chicago at Schubas, March 2020 -- the same month that COVID-19 caused the university to shut down in-person classes. It was just announced that Dayglow’s headline tour had been canceled, except for the show I was going to. At that moment, I knew live music was coming to a temporary halt. This made me appreciate every second of that show, a little more than usual. To top it off, my best friend and I got to talk to the band before and after their set!

Hobbies/Interests/Fun Facts/Campus Involvement:

Along with the work I do for SCOPE, I enjoy taking photos and videos of my daily life, hangouts with family and friends, shows, etc. Some other interests I have include sketching, running, cooking, and going to concerts. I am also a current member of Gamma Phi Beta and I serve on the Creative Leadership committee for Dance Marathon!

The Deep Cuts:

Like most, my taste in music is all over the place! I find myself listening to a lot of mellow, nostalgic tunes as my go-to, but I will be down for headbanging pop punk, if you will. A lot of my music is influenced by my brother (a rock, metalcore junkie) and my dad (a yacht rock, smooth jazz kinda guy.) I found my own middle ground in alternative music when I was in middle school. It’s definitely fluctuated over the years, but my favorite thing about music is that I’ll never get enough of it. No matter what stage of life I’m in, I’ll be able to discover some new songs and revisit old ones at any point.

I would say my playlist has a wide variety going on. I’d suggest listening to it on shuffle! I’m a firm believer that you can get to know someone better just by listening to their music. Hopefully, this playlist will do me justice! I would love to hear what you think or if you have any recommendations -- email me at jenniefrancis-nuguid@uiowa.edu Happy listening (-:
